How To...

First you need to create an account with Campsite Alerts. This account is used to track the campgrounds you are monitoring and alert you when a site becomes available. If you don't have an account yet, click on the Sign Up tab and enter your email and a password that you would like to use for this app. Keep in mind that all campsite availability alerts will be sent to the email address you use here.

If you have an account, enter your email and password in the Sign In tab. If you forgot your password, enter your email and click the Forgot Password button and a link to create a new password will be emailed to you.

Purchase Credits

Campsite Alerts uses a credit system. You need one credit to add a campground and monitor it for up to 30 days. After 30 days, your campground will automatically renew for another 30 days, as long as you have available credits. Only campgrounds that are actively being monitored every minute are charged; daily, paused, and expired campgrounds do not consume credits.

To purchase credits, select Settings in the menu and then click Purchase Credits.

  1. Select the number of credits you would like to purchase. The minimum number you can purchase is 10.
  2. Enter your credit card information.
  3. Click Purchase.

Note that your credit card information is not stored and your credit card will not be automatically recharged in the future. If at any point you run out of credits, you will need to purchase more using the procedure listed above.

See Supported Campgrounds

Campsite Alerts supports all federal campgrounds, many state parks, and even a few county parks. To see the full list, view the Supported Campgrounds page.

Add Campground

To add a new campground to be monitored, click on add_circle in the toolbar or Add in the menu. Note that you will need one credit to add a campground.

  1. Select the State the campground is in.
  2. Select the Facility Type (federal, state, or county).
  3. Select the Campground from the list. If the campground you are looking for isn't shown, please let me know and I'll look into getting it added.
  4. Enter your desired Arrival Date and Length of Stay. These fields are required.
  5. If you would like to further filter on additional options, select More Options. Note that the list of available options will vary by campground.
    • If your arrival date is flexible, select a Flexibility range.
    • If the campground you selected has loops, and you desire a specific Loop, select it.
    • If you desire a specific Site Number or numbers, enter them. Use commas to list more than one.
    • Enter your RV Length in feet if you want to only receive alerts on sites that are this size or larger.
    • Select an Electric Hookup type if desired.
    • Select Water Hookup, Sewer Hookup, and/or Pets Allowed if desired.
  6. Click Add.

The campground will now be monitored every minute using the criteria you supplied.

Get Alerts

If and when an available campsite is found, you will receive an email with the details. Be sure to reserve the site as quickly as possible, as others may be monitoring as well and the first one to reserve the site gets it. It may even be gone by the time you try to reserve it in some cases.

If you would like to receive a text message in addition to the alert email, go to Settings in the menu and enter your Phone Number and Phone Network. If your phone network is not in the list, let me know and I'll look into getting it added.

If you'd like to have alert emails sent to additional email addresses besides your default account email (the email you use to sign in), go to Settings in the menu and enter the email addresses under Additional Emails. If entering more than one, separate them with commas.

View Status

Once signed in, a list of campgrounds currently being monitored will be shown. The Status column will have one of the following values:

StatusDescription
Minutely The campground is being monitored every minute for an available site.
Daily One or more available sites were found previously. The campground is now being monitored daily in order to report the number of sites currently available.
Paused Monitoring of this campground has been paused.
Expired The arrival date for this campground is in the past, so it is no longer being monitored.

View Details

To view details about a campground being monitored, click on its name. From there you can click More Details to see how long ago the campground was last checked, the number of campsites found the last time it was checked, and how many days are left until the campground will require another credit to continue monitoring.

Edit Campground

To make changes to a campground that is being monitored, select one (and only one) campground in the list and then click on edit in the toolbar or Edit in the menu. You can also edit by clicking Edit in the Details dialog.

You can modify the Arrival Date and Length of Stay. Under More Options you can also modify Flexibility, Site Number(s), Length, Electric Hookup, Water Hookup, Sewer Hookup, and Pets Allowed. Note that not all options are available for all campgrounds.

Click Save when you are finished making your changes. Note that after editing, the status of the campground will be set to monitor every minute, even if it was previously not.

Pause/Unpause Campground

To pause or unpause the monitoring of a campground, select one or more campgrounds in the list and then click on pause in the toolbar or Pause/Unpause in the menu.

  • If the campground is currently active (having a status of Minutely or Daily), it will no longer be monitored and will now have a status of Paused.
  • If the campground has a status of Paused, monitoring will resume and it will now have a status of Minutely.

Note that paused campgrounds do not use credits.

Delete Campground

To delete a campground so that it is no longer monitored, select one or more campgrounds in the list and then click on delete in the toolbar or Delete in the menu.

To delete all expired campgrounds, click on delete_sweep in the toolbar or Delete Expired in the menu.

Stop Daily Updates

If any of your campgrounds have a status of Daily, you will receive an email once a day showing the status of your campgrounds. This can be useful if you want to monitor the number of open sites at a campground.

To stop receiving these emails, select Settings in the menu and uncheck Daily Updates.
